Rude Girl Revue
+ special guest Roddy Radiation
Unapologetically female. More than just a song lyric, it’s become a mantra for Rude Girl Revue, the all-female ska supergroup featuring members of some of the hottest ska bands on the East Coast, including Hub City Stompers, The Scotch Bonnets, Stop The Presses, The Pandemics, The Skluttz and more.
Unlike other all-girl bands, Rude Girl Revue was formed by women, for women. The group got its start during the downtime of the pandemic, spearheaded by a collective of seasoned musicians with a combined 50+ years of experience, as well as fresh voices calling to elevate women within the ska scene. All of the members of Rude Girl Revue share a desire to work together to make music that speaks to their shared female experience.
The band plays big, original tunes, ska versions of popular feminist anthems and curated, uplifting ska covers. They present themselves as real women, with a beauty that isn’t merely skin deep. Together, their sheer numbers and combined talents and energies have created a crew whose power and potential is undeniable.
Like Motown revues of the 1960s, Rude Girl Revue is anchored by a tight, ten-piece band, including a three-horn section and three backing vocalists. The band has many talented lead singers among their ranks but they also invite guest vocalists to sing with them.
The group made their debut on the main stage at the 2021 SuperNova International Ska Festival. There, sixteen women took the stage together to an emotional groundswell from men and women alike. All who saw their set agreed that Rude Girl Revue was one of the highlights of the three-day festival. Also at SuperNova, the band released a two-song, self-titled digital single, which is being re-released as 7” vinyl on Jump Up Records in December 2021.
Rude Girl Revue is on a mission: to inspire women not just to move to the front of the crowd but to see themselves onstage in front of that crowd, and to make those dreams of performing a reality. The band is now booking festival dates throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, as they continue to write, arrange and record new songs in advance of future releases.
